Service Description

Anatomy provides a working knowledge of the construction of the figure. Every week, class will focus on a part of the body and cover how the underlying structure influences surface form. Recognising these landmarks allows the artist to reinforce what they see with what they know. It is the study of anatomy that gave master works their expressive force. Ample time will be given to work directly from the model. Students will advance from clever copying to drawings which demonstrate informed interpretation as perception is joined with knowledge and intention. Introducing useful ways of constructing a workable figure, students will progress to studying the effects of light on form, identifying and translating value (tonal) relationships. (4 class package)
